Innovista Health Solutions’ long-time partner, the Texas Medical Association (TMA), published an article studying the success of Alliance ACO, a Texas-based accountable care organization led by Innovista’s Crystal Ecton. Alliance ACO is comprised of two groups of rural Texas physicians, who joined forces in 2016 to participate in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Advanced Investment Model Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP). The “marriage” that became Alliance ACO began slowly, but by 2017 included 56 primary care physicians, and had generated more than $6.6 million in total shared savings. During that same period the ACO’s quality score was nearly perfect at 99 percent.
The article discusses the population health strategies that played a role in this success, including greater physician engagement and in-office treatments that helped manage costs.
